SEPTEMBER 24, 2019 – SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA – Sidus Energy, a Silicon Valley battery technology company has signed a Technology Transfer and Joint Development Agreement with IBM today on a revolutionary cobalt-free battery technology developed by IBM.

“This new technology could help eliminate the need for heavy metals in battery production and transform the long-term sustainability of many elements of our energy infrastructure,” according to IBM.

Besides the battery composition, initial tests also indicate “it can be optimized to surpass the capabilities of lithium-ion batteries in a number of individual categories including lower costs, faster charging time, higher power and energy density, strong energy efficiency and low flammability.”

With the Technology Transfer and Joint Development Agreement, Sidus Energy is starting the endeavor to bring this technology from IBM Research to product development and manufacturing.

“Sidus Energy is looking forward to commercializing this new battery technology and bringing it to the market as soon as possible.”  said Dr. Shelly Deng, CEO of Sidus Energy.
